Install a Lightweight Torrent Client. To increase the torrent downloading speed, the very first step. Over the last few days, our internet download speeds have been drastically reduced. Font app for mac. We are currently getting about 1-2mb/s download speeds. However, our upload speeds are about 40-50 mb/s. We are not sure if it is our router that is acting up or if it is something on Verizon's end. I talked with a V. Test your internet speed. If you keep asking yourself how to speed up your internet, first of all, test.
If you've been updating your Mac OS to the latest version macOS High Sierra and the download is pretty damn slow, though you have a fast internet connection. We've tried figuring out what is the cause of the problem or there are secret hidden settings to enable to fasten its download speed. Upon checking and testing different ways to resolve the problem, we've come in to solution. The problem is when you're connected into a 2.4Ghz Wifi and your macbook tends to download pretty low or limited if you're connected to it. The solution is you must have a Wi-Fi that has 5G capable, most fibr home wifi has this feature and if you connect your Macbook pro laptop into it, your download speed will fasten same as your internet bandwidth. On our experiment, when we're using 2.4GHz connection we barely gets 100Kb/s to 200Kb/s download speed and it takes 5 hours to complete the macOS High Siera Updates which is the size is 5.20 GB. But when connected to 5GHz we get the full bandwidth of our internet connection which is 3.5Mb/s and it only takes 30 minutes to complete the update. These are some of the issue of the newer macbook pro's laptop and if you have other alternative to fasten your internet connection, please leave a comment down below! The following usually works on both Tiger and Leopard:
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl.)
Adding DNS codes to your Network Settings, should gives good results in terms of speed-up:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
(An explanation of why that is both safe and a good idea can be read here: http://www.labnol.org/internet/tools/opendsn-what-is-opendns-why-required-2/2587 / )
Whilst in System Preferences/Network you should also turn off 'IPv6' in your preference pane, as otherwise you may not get the full speed benefit (the DNS resolver will default to making SRV queries). If you want to know what IPv6 is:
This is Apple's guidance on iPv6:

Click on Apply Now and close the window.
Restart Safari, and repair permissions.
If that didn't do it, then try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
form values
download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
com.apple.Safari.plist
Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.
